Rock Reggae track released October 2015 featuring an intro by Barack Obama eulogizing about the value of following your dream.

We put Barrack Obama on our new single because he is a man of principle who has achieved much for many of his citizens: introducing Americans to heath care for all while supporting industries in crisis and encouraging entrepreneurs and innovation. He has reduced global conflict ending years of hostility towards Cuba. He has promoted environmental awareness and responsibility. He’s had to battle with the traditionalists but that did not deter him from achieving his dream.

We say Live your Dreams! but you can only do that if you live in a world where there is a fair distribution of wealth and opportunity. Everyone with determination should be able to raise a family, enjoy this world and be safe and secure. It should not depend on who you know, whether you went to a private school or how much money your family has.

The Papers music is unique drawing on the love in Reggae, the energy of Rock and the fun in Pop. Our views are uncompromising. Our approach is love the world and enjoy your life. Live Your Dreams!!

Exeter Respect Festival 2024 - The Papers

Saturday, June 8, 2024 @ 1:00PM — 2:00PM (UTC-12)Sat, Jun 8, 2024 @ 1:00PM — 2:00PM (UTC-12)

Exeter Belmont Park, Belmont Road, Exeter, Devon

ABOUT EXETER RESPECT Exeter Respect is the city’s annual celebration of diversity where we use the performing and creative arts to engage the wider community in saying no to racism and all forms of prejudice. The Respect ethos is a simple one: racism and prejudice often spring from fear, and fear is often based on ignorance, so let’s overcome ignorance by getting to know one another and sharing not shunning our cultures. One of the best ways to get to know someone is to enjoy yourself with them, hence our celebratory event and adoption of the old Commission for Racial Equality slogan:

All Different, All Equal! The first Exeter Respect festival took place in 1997 and there has been a celebration virtually every year since then. From 2003 to 2008 Exeter Respect’s biggest event was at Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre, but from 2009 to the present day our focus has been a giant two day festival in Belmont Park, with a footfall of around 20,000 people every year.

Exeter Respect is returning to Belmont Park for 2024 on Saturday 08 and Sunday 09 June, we look forward to seeing you there. The Papers play at 1.00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday 8th JUNE. Entrance each day minimum £2.00 per person. Donations accepted. Festival starts at 12:00pm each day. Finishes at 7:00 pm

Small Boat crossings

  • Small boat crossings remain controversial and form the ‘headline’ measure of the UK's attempt to control immigration. Politicians use this measure to criticise government policies and propose that they would do a better job. The experience of those who end up in these boats is rarely publicised or explained.

  • The Red Cross list a number of reasons why refugees use small boats to enter the UK:

Fleeing an even more dangerous situation

Joining a family already in the UK

Knowing some of the language

People Smugglers dictate journeys

Lack of legal alternative routes

see link https://www.redcross.org.uk/stories/migration-and-displacement/refugees-and-asylum-seekers/5-reasons-people-cross-the-channel for a full discussion

The picture is complex and difficult. A full analysis of refugee migration using small boats can be found at the Migration Observatoy at The University of Oxford.

See link here:  https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/people-crossing-the-english-channel-in-small-boats/ for an indepth analysis and historical perspective.
